ECC approves export of donkey meat and hides to China

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet has approved the export of donkey meat and hides to China, according to officials.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the ECC chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The committee reviewed a range of economic and administrative matters, including trade policy, import regulations, and fiscal allocations.

During the meeting, the committee expressed satisfaction over the recent decline in inflation and noted some stability in prices across essential commodities in the country.

The ECC also approved the temporary import of vehicles and auto parts to support industrial and commercial needs. Officials said the measure is aimed at easing supply chain constraints and supporting economic activity in the automotive sector.

In addition, the committee imposed a ban on the import of goods produced through forced labour, aligning Pakistan’s trade policies with international ethical standards.

One of the key decisions included the approval of exporting donkey meat and hides to China, a move that is expected to create new trade opportunities and generate foreign exchange earnings.

The committee also approved a special incentive package for officers serving in Balochistan, aimed at improving administrative efficiency and governance in the province.

Other approvals included a reward of Rs30 million for the national hockey team in recognition of their performance, as well as Rs3.72 billion allocated for the digital transformation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Officials stated that these measures are part of broader efforts to strengthen economic management, improve institutional performance, and support strategic sectors.
